1. DEFINITIONS

To ensure clarity, we use the specific vocabulary defined below:

• Personal Data means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
• Sensitive Personal Data means a subset of Personal Data regarding your ethnicity, health information, or biometric data (facial scans).
• Aesthetic Treatment means medical-grade procedures (e.g., Botox, lasers, surgery) distinct from general beauty treatments.
• Provider means the clinic, doctor, or medspa you research or book through Vera.
• AIA (AI Aesthetician) means our artificial intelligence tools used for facial analysis and recommendations.

2. THE DATA WE COLLECT

In other words: To give you accurate skin advice and help you book treatments, we need to know who you are and what your skin looks like. We collect information in three ways: directly from you, automatically when you use the app, and from third parties.

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Account Data: Name, email address, phone number, birth year, and password.
• Aesthetic Profile: Your gender identity, ethnicity (crucial for skin typing), primary skin concerns (e.g., hyperpigmentation, aging), and treatment history.
• Facial Photos (Biometric Data): The photos (front, left profile, right profile) you upload for AIA analysis or to your Vera Diary.
• User Content: Comments, photos, and reviews you post in Vera Talk or your Vera Diary.
• Booking & Payment Data: If you book via Vera Reception, we collect payment details (processed securely by our payment processor, Stripe) and appointment preferences.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Data: How you interact with Vera Research, which treatments you view, and time spent on the app.
• Device Data: IP address, device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

Providers: If you book an appointment, the Provider may share confirmation details or attendance status (e.g., "completed" or "no-show") with us.

Social Logins: If you log in via Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information permitted by those platforms.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

In other words: We use your data to power the AI, connect you with clinics, and keep the community safe. We don't sell your data to advertisers.

We use your Personal Data for the following purposes:

3.1 To Provide the Core Services

• Vera Research: To display relevant treatments based on your concerns.
• Vera Reception: To facilitate bookings, process deposits, and send appointment confirmations.
• Vera Diary: To store your treatment logs and photos for your personal tracking.

3.2 To Power the AI Aesthetician (AIA)

We use your facial photos and demographic data to generate:

• Facial Analysis: Facial age estimates, skin scores (e.g., "wrinkle score"), and skin tone classification.
• Recommendations: Personalized suggestions for Aesthetic Treatments that match your anatomy and concerns.

Note on AI Training: We may use de-identified facial data to improve our algorithms only if you explicitly opt-in via your account settings. You may revoke this consent at any time.

3.3 To Foster Community (Vera Talk)

• To display your reviews and forum posts.
• To moderate content and ensure the community remains safe and honest.

3.4 To Communicate with You

To send booking reminders, security alerts, and updates about the Vera Taxonomy or features.

4. HOW WE SHARE YOUR DATA

In other words: We share your data with the clinic you book with. Otherwise, we keep it tight, sharing only with the tech vendors who help us run the app.

We do not sell your Personal Data. We disclose it only in these specific scenarios:

4.1 With Providers (Crucial for Booking)

When you use Vera Reception to request an Appointment, we share your:

• Name and contact info;
• Relevant treatment history and concerns;
• Booking notes.

Once this data is shared with a Provider, it becomes subject to that Provider’s own privacy practices and medical record retention laws.

4.2 With Service Providers

We share data with trusted vendors who help us operate, such as:

• Cloud Hosting: (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) to store your data securely.
• Payment Processors: (e.g., Stripe) to handle payments.
• Analytics: To help us understand app usage (on an aggregated basis).

4.3 With Other Users (Publicly)

Public Content: Any content you post to Vera Talk or public Reviews is visible to the entire Vera community. Private Diary: Entries in Vera Diary marked "Private" are never shared with other users.

4.4 Legal & Safety

We may disclose data if required by law (e.g., a subpoena) or to protect the safety of our Users (e.g., investigating fraud or harassment).

5. YOUR BIOMETRIC PRIVACY

In other words: Your face is unique. We treat your photos with extra care.

• Consent: We obtain your explicit consent before capturing or analyzing facial photos.
• Purpose: Facial data is used solely for the AIA analysis and tracking your skin progress.
• Retention: We retain facial data only as long as your account is active or as required by law. If you delete your account, your facial data is permanently deleted from our active systems.

6. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Vera is a global platform. Our servers are located in the United States. However, if you use Vera to research or book treatments in other countries (specifically South Korea), your data will be transferred to Providers in those countries to facilitate your care. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer of your data to the US and to the jurisdiction of your selected Provider.

7. DATA RETENTION & DELETION

We retain your Personal Data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined here.

Account Deletion: You may request to delete your account at any time via the App settings.

Process: Upon deletion, we will permanently remove your Personal Data, including photos and chat history, from our active databases within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for legal or accounting purposes (e.g., proof of purchase).

8. YOUR CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a resident of California, you have specific rights regarding your data:

• Right to Know: You can request details about the categories of Personal Data we collect and share.
• Right to Delete: You can request the deletion of your Personal Data.
• Right to Correct: You can request we fix inaccurate data.
• Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Data: You can restrict our use of your Sensitive Personal Data (like ethnicity or facial data) to only what is necessary to provide the Service.
• Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

9. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Vera is for adults only (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If we discover we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent and believe your child has created an account, please contact us.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our Services (like new AI features) or laws. We will notify you of material changes via the App or email. Continued use of Vera after an update constitutes acceptance.
